The Team at Simpson & Marwick are very pleased that there now appears to be a chink of light at the end of the property tunnel.  The Scottish Government has stated that Phase 1 of the route map out of the Covid-19 crisis includes ‘Preparing for the safe reopening of the housing market’. 

What this really means is still unclear so we await some clarification in the next few days.

Since Estate Agents in England reopened on 13th May the volume of enquiries that we have been receiving has increased dramatically.

Whilst we continue to offer virtual valuations  and virtual viewings we are hopeful that  we will be able to recommence physical  valuations and viewings in Scotland reasonably soon both with strict safety procedures in place.

We are getting prepared to be ready to help you sell or buy just as soon as we can.  We have already taken 4 members of our team off furlough leave and are communicating with clients to update them of our plans and thoughts.  Everyone seems very positive and pleased to hear from us.

Our lawyers have remained very busy throughout the lockdown.  Many transactions have had missives (the contract) concluded and settlements have taken place. Numerous settlements are now set up to take place during June and hopefully removal firms will be allowed to operate again in the not too distant future.

We know there will still be some uncertainty about letting people into your homes so we will continue to offer virtual viewings and valuations for those that would prefer them.

We would like to reassure you that when visiting properties we will be adhering to government social distancing guidelines and following recognised safety procedures. 

The only proactive advice that we would offer now is if you are thinking selling your property in the foreseeable future please tell us NOW so that we can book in your home report, photos and video sooner rather than later.  We are expecting high demand for these services and potentially a long wait unless you are in the queue soon.

Our offices do, of course, remain closed for the time being but some of our team are working from their homes and are therefore available to help you and answer any property enquiries.
